Vacature omschrijving
The Steel Structure Superintendent has to oversee all steel construction activities on site according all relevant Belgian and European legislation, industry standards for petrochemical facilities, and specific requirements for fireproofing.
The Superintendent will work closely with the EPCM contractor and subcontractors to guarantee that steel works meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise subcontractors to ensure steel erection activities are performed safely and in accordance with project specifications, drawings, and industry best practices.
Ensure compliance with all applicable Belgian and European directives and legislation for steel construction in petrochemical environments, including but not limited to the Eurocodes (EN) for structural design.
Conduct regular inspections and audits of steel construction activities to identify any noncompliance issues with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Coordinate with the EPCM contractor, project management team, and engineering departments to resolve technical issues and ensure the seamless integration of steel structures within the overall project schedule.
Facilitate communication between all parties involved in steel construction, ensuring clear understanding and adherence to requirements, specifications and other standards.
Prepare and maintain detailed records and reports on steel construction activities, compliance checks, and corrective actions taken.
Oversee the implementation of fireproofing measures for steel structures, adhering to relevant standards.
Je profiel
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or related field.
At least 10 years of experience in supervising steel structure projects, with a strong preference for experience in petrochemical or similar industrial plants.
Comprehensive knowledge of Belgian and European construction regulations, steel design codes (Eurocodes), coating and fireproofing standards applicable to petrochemical facilities.
Familiar with Topography and surveying, insight into assessing hoisting and lifting activities, experienced in correct implementation of grating, stairs and safety passages.
Proven ability to manage subcontractors and ensure compliance with complex regulatory and project requirements.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Fluent in English, Dutch and with proficiency in other languages relevant to the project location being an advantage.
Valid VCA-VOL certificate.
