The ESG Compliance Officer is responsible for:
Social (Social Fraud and Human Rights) risk prevention: assess and prevent risks of (sub)contractors and its employees to assure compliance with Belgian, EU and ILO Labour laws and regulations.
Managing the Environmental and Social Management System, structured documentation of its use, improvement of procedures if appropriate.
Work closely with the HSE supervisors and Security team and (sub)contractor personnel on all social and environmental maters, ensuring issues are resolved in a proper and timely manner.
Prepare, assist and follow up internal and 3rd party site audits/reviews : QAQC procedures, audit trails, corrective actions and logistical maters.
ESG Stakeholder engagement : prepare and assist the engagement with communities, government representatives and other interested stakeholders.
Weekly and Monthly reports to the ESG Compliance Manager, Bi-annual to the Lenders
Assist ESG Manager with the grievance mechanism : investigation engagement and treatment of external complaints and other tasks as required.
Support the enforcement of social and environmental rules and regulations.
Je profiel
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social, business or environmental studies or similar.
Sound knowledge and understanding of Belgian/EU Labour law with a focus on (sub)contractors with workers from EU and outside EU (Limosa, A1, work permits, tax structures etc).
Knowledge of Labour Mgmt System (e.g. ISO 45001) and Environmental Management Systems( e.g. ISO 14001).
Experience with government systems like Check in @ Work, Declaration of Work, Check Inhoudingsplicht.
General understanding of Health and Safety (e.g. LTI stats) and Belgian environmental law (VLAREM) is a bonus.
Approx. 10 years experience in complex construction projects; experience in chemical, oil, and gas or petrochemical seting is a bonus.
Willing to work on a construction site in the harbour of Antwerp.
Result-orientated generalist with a strong drive to deliver a World Class plant in a detailed regulated environment.
Agile personality that switches easily between pragmatic hands-on activities and design, build and run the ESMS.
Able to construct and maintain sound relationships with social and environmental counterparts at a wide range of stakeholders on site (construction and (sub)contractors) and beyond (government agencies like FOD and RSZ, lenders), with wide-ranging cultural backgrounds.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong planning and organizing ability.
Able to define and prioritize issues and then solve the problems through networking with other team members or external sources.
Fluent verbal and writen Dutch & English, excellent communication skills.
