Construction superintendents

The Construction Superintendent is answerable to the Construction Manager or Project Manager and gives guidance to Construction Supervisors or sometimes directly to contractors. The duties of a Construction Superintendent include:

  • Identifying the jobs, materials, services and tools required for the scope of work of a project;
  • Assisting in the preparation of work orders;
  • Managing supervisors or contractors;
  • Presiding over construction meetings;
  • Acting as coordinator / administrator for distribution and archiving of close-out packages and related internal and external correspondence for specific work;
  • Ensuring that delivered materials and operations are in line with pre-established quality standards;
  • Ensuring that documentation is carefully reviewed and checked for quality and content.
