Process engineers

The Process Engineer is responsible for the development and improvement and sometimes the deployment of new and existing installations and processes and can also act as trouble-shooter. The Process Engineer leads, or participates in, the Project Team from concept to implementation. In addition, the Process Engineer can be responsible for setting up protocols for qualification activities, safety studies and feasibility studies. The function is therefore very versatile. The Process Engineer usually works in the Engineering Department, which also includes the Technical Service and Validation / Calibration Departments.

 

The tasks of a Process Engineer may include:

  • Checking that the production process is working effectively.;
  • Initiating and implementing improvement proposals;
  • Creating and introducing clear working instructions;
  • Processing and monitoring improvement proposals coming from Production;
  • Making design changes;
  • Calculating (parts of) the design such as those involving pressure drops and valves, and drawing up specifications;
  • Introducing and supervising the use of new models;
  • Coordinating between different departments.
